Ayn Rand: The Life Behind the Work

Ayn Rand Draw

The Atlas Society have produced a fascinating short video that provides an overview of Ayn Rand’s life and work. Using the novel medium of real-time drawing, the video covers Rand’s early years in Russia during the communist revolution, her arrival in America, the struggles she endured at the outset of her literary career, and the key ideas underlying her philosophy.

By gaining an appreciation of the woman behind works such as The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged, one can understand Rand’s philosophy in a new and more personal way. She strived to live according to the principles she espoused: as a rational individual driven by the pursuit of achievement, dignity, respect, and love.
