5 Reasons to Register for a SFL Regional Conference

It’s summer, which can only mean one thing in the SFL universe — Regional Conferences are just around the corner! We’re planning fantastic events this fall. The sooner you register, the more you’ll hear about the exciting things our Conference Directors have planned for you!

But, if you need some more motivation, here are 5 Reasons to Register for an SFL Regional Conference:

1. The people you will meet.

This is by far the most exciting part of an RC. Whether it’s a new friend who just *gets* your take on Adam Smith, or a contact with similar activism goals, connecting with fellow libertarian students is the whole point of an RC. You never know who you’re going to meet!

2. The things you will learn.

Okay, so you know your liberty. But as Hayek would tell us, you can’t even know what you don’t know yet. And there’s always more to learn about the classical liberal tradition. You can rest assured that if it’s an idea about liberty, someone’s lecturing on it at an RC.

3. The parties.

Sure, this one is a bit less serious, but who can be serious all the time? We’re a movement that likes to have fun and knows how to party. But even the socials serve a purpose; they give you a chance to get to know all those awesome new people you met during the day. Really, this is just another way of repeating Reason #1.

4. The plans that you’ll make.

How much can you get done during a lunchtime conversation with a new acquaintance? You’ll be surprised. I’ve seen everything from regional initiatives, small book groups, and informal issue networks form over coffee at RCs. It’s an organizer’s playground, and it all goes back to Reason #1. Seriously. The people you meet will blow you away.

5. The resources you’ll receive.

So at the conference itself, there are new books, SFL t-shirts, and all kinds of swag. But, what’s really valuable are the activism kits, resources on organizing ,and institutional support you’ll get by being tied into the SFL network. There are always new opportunities being offered, and you’ll hear about them first at this fall’s Regional Conferences.

Looking forward to seeing you in the fall!
