The Pius XII Memorial Library at Saint Louis University has compiled a uniquely modern exhibit on the changing face of social movements. The online gallery is focused on the impact of game-changing technology, like the rise of social media in activism, as well as creative new approaches to organizing and social entrepreneurship.
The project has interactive portions, accessible via smartphone and invites visitors to come and, “witness and experience what you, your community and the nation has to say on one of today’s most important issues.”
In addition to exploring the new world of online activism, the exhibit highlights the work of organizations, artists, individuals, and technologies — 20 in each category — responsible for unique approaches to organizing and for advancing new forms of civil expression. SFL is proud to be featured among the organizations providing a glimpse of activism’s future. You can read one of the unique perspectives on self-organizing featured in the exhibit here: “Self-Organization of Modern Protest Movements via Social Media.”
The gallery will be open on Level 1 of the Pius XII Memorial Library at Saint Louis University until December 31, 2015 and is also available digitally here.
