When I first got involved with SFL as a 2012 Campus Coordinator, I had no idea how much the experience would cultivate my career and leadership capabilities. My time as a CC led me to serve on the North American and International Executive Boards – and now – to join SFL’s staff as a North American Programs Associate.

It’s fitting that my role on the North American programs team will focus on the Campus Coordinator program, as the program has had such a positive impact on my life, both professionally and personally. As a CC, I was able to hone my communication and leadership skills, making possible endeavors that would have otherwise been unimaginable.

I would never have guessed that during my time away from SFL, I’d became the Director of Communications for the Libertarian Party of Canada, help the party have its best electoral performance in over 20 years, and even run for Parliament here in Canada – an amazing and rewarding experience.

Outside of political action, I helped launch the political information app Pollenize, which now operates nationally in Canada and the United States. I also helped create a charitable app called Share Humanity, which has been able to successfully link incoming Syrian refugees with those offering employment or housing assistance.

Throughout these experiences, I’ve led teams, made media appearances, debated public officials in front of large audiences, and overseen the implementation of projects on a national scale. All possible thanks to the valuable skills I learned and developed in SFL’s leadership programs.

So I was more than thrilled to re-join SFL in an official capacity and help young leaders in North America develop the skills that I have so positively benefited from.
