Free Speech, Forough, and Frederic (Bastiat)

If you haven’t checked out our spring conference line up yet, you’re missing out on some exciting opportunities to learn about libertarian ideas. Each conference in our Spring Focus Series is specially designed to deepen your knowledge in a key area of pro-liberty activism. Check out the full roster:

  • Lj9KHdPl.jpgTech Freedom: We’re excited to announce that Code to Inspire CEO Fereshteh Forough will be speaking at our April 2nd Tech Freedom Conference at New York University. A former Afghan refugee, Forough now works to spread peace and female empowerment by teaching young women to code. We’ll also be joined by Manhattan Institute Fellow Jared Meyer, speaking on the costs of regulation, and we’ll be announcing even more exciting speakers soon!
  • Free Speech on Campus: Coming to Case Western Reserve University on Saturday April 16th, SFL’s Free Speech on Campus Conference features speakers like Foundation for Individual Rights in Education Legislative and Policy Director Joseph Cohn. He’s one of the masterminds behind FIRE’s successful free speech litigation project and will help you learn how to defend free expression.
  • dan-peterson-2-5x7-1.jpgFree Market Environmentalism: Two exciting speakers have been announced so far: Ari Bargil of the Institute for Justice in Florida and Daniel Peterson, who serves as director of the James Madison Institute’s Center for Property Rights. On Saturday, April, 2nd, at Florida Gulf Coast University, they’ll be covering timely issues like free-market conservation, pollution, and alternatives to environmental regulation.
  • Ballot Issues: Guns, weed, and wages. These are just some of the issues Californians will have a chance to vote on thanks to ballot measures this year. To make sure you’ve got the pro-liberty scoop on each one, SFL is hosting a Ballot Issues Conference at CSU Dominguez Hills on Saturday, April 30th. So far, we’ve got Daniel C. Palm, a political science professor at Azusa Pacific University confirmed to speak on the Second Amendment and gun rights in California with more speaker announcements coming soon!

And, as if that weren’t enough liberty for a single semester, we’ve also just extended the deadline for our two Liberty Fund Conferences taking place the weekend of April 8-10th. You’ve now got until Friday, March 11th to apply!

One is focused on the writings of classical liberal forefather Frederic Bastiat and the other covers a whole slew of economic heavyweights, from Adam Smith to Milton Friedman. I hope you’ll join SFL and our awesome moderators — professors Peter Boettke and Peter Jaworski— for a deep-dive into the ideas of liberty.
