Mexican Local Coordinators plan #LibreParaAmar protest for gay rights

SFL’s Local Coordinators in Mexico have been busy this week with plans for a demonstration in support of gay marriage. They’re hoping to bring a lot of folks out to the streets of Mexico City this Saturday, September 24th to advocate for a future in which all are #LibreParaAmar (free to love).

Sparked as a response to a series of marches opposing gay rights also planned for Saturday, here’s how SFL Mexico described the aims of this demonstration:

14329935_1386125238068621_3937106951256373935_n“Freedom of expression is a broader aspect of the right to freedom that every man has: the right to carry out the actions that one considers appropriate, as long as they don’t infringe the rights of third parties.

Freedom of expression is necessary in order to convey ideas, to take them from the abstract level to the plane of the objective reality, translate them into action and communication to others for those who listen to these ideas and concepts can be a useful tool that will increase their knowledge of the reality.

However, in Students For Liberty Mexico we celebrate individuality and love regardless of sexual orientation and acknowledge the valuable and arduous struggle that the LGBT movement has led in favor of equality and freedom. That’s why, we too, work for a world where every individual is #libreparaamar and #libreparaser.”
