Attend D.C. premiere of “Condemned To Live” documentary on Hungarian opponents of communist oppression!

CondemnedToLiveOur friends at the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation are hosting the D.C. film premiere of Condemned To Live, a documentary that details the lives of four Hungarian dissidents committed to ending communist oppression.

In this new documentary, four survivors of one of Hungary’s most infamous prisons, Kisfogház, share their accounts of imprisonment with the world. They watched as their friends were executed in the courtyard, learned secret codes to communicate with one another, and resisted their captors in any way they could. But they survived—as one of the dissidents puts it, they were “condemned to live… condemned to remember.”

On this 60th anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution, VoC invites you to celebrate the resilience of the human spirit and commemorating those who lost their lives to communism in Hungary. Without the stories of survivors like these, we can never do justice to all of communism’s victims.

The film will be followed by a Q&A with co-directors Máté Vincze and Noémi Szakonyi, who through their work are deeply committed to finding innovative ways to preserve the stories of the victims of communism.

The screening will take place on at 6:30pm on October 10th at The Landmark Theater E Street, 555 11th St NW, Washington DC.

This event has now passed.
