Canada: Hayek’s Social and Political Thought – April 21-23

This conference will focus on the fundamental contributions of F. A. Hayek to economic, social, and political thought in general, and to classical liberalism in particular. These contributions include Hayek’s understanding of market competition as a discovery procedure, his reflections on the implications of the dispersion of human knowledge, his theory of spontaneous order, his critique of social justice, and his defense of the rule of law as the most basic protection of individual liberty.

Discussion Leader: Antony Davies

Antony Davies is associate professor of economics at Duquesne University and Chief Academic Officer at FreedomTrust. Dr. Davies has authored more than 300 op-eds in, among others, the Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, and New York Daily News, has produced more than 200 educational videos on economics, public policy, and statistics, and is co-producer of a new online series, “Words and Numbers.” In addition to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, Dr. Davies was Associate Producer at the Moving Pictures Institute, Chief Financial Officer at Parabon Computation, President and co-founder of Paragon Software, and co-founder and Chief Analytics Officer at Repliqa, Inc.
