LibertyCon 2017: A Fresh and Amazing Start

Prague, Czech Republic  —  The 6th edition of the biggest pro-liberty student conference in Europe, LibertyCon, has started at the Law Faculty of Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. Gathering a great number of participants from all over the world, the event is hoping to be the biggest conference organized by the student-driven association European Students For Liberty.

LibertyCon, which this year aims to discuss the recent rise of the sharing economy and modern technology, has started Friday afternoon with people flooding to the venue. “We have registrations from people coming from every continent of the world. More than 900 people have registered, and we hope to meet even more of them during the conference. All of them are young professionals and all of them are willing to be a part of the history and the future.” – said ESFL Events and Communications Associate Michal Šindlar.

The conference was opened by Students For Liberty CEO Wolf von Laer and started with the keynote lectures “Everything you know is dead or dying: how to thrive after the e-pocalypse?” by self-made entrepreneur, investor and author Henrik Johnson, and “Beeronomics” by Matt Kibbe, President and Chief Community Organizer at Free the People.

The second part of the first day featured presentations on several other topics: a discussion of the ideas of Europe’s present and future from the perspective of Austrian author Stefan Zweig, a lecture on creativity, decentralization and liberty, presented by Lars Tvede, the author of “Creative Society”, and a discussion on policing drugs in our society, which highlighted issues regarding regulation and a monopolistic approach.

“LibertyCon is the highlight of the year. Packed with lectures, workshops and parties, it’s a great opportunity to meet friends old and new. It’s the strong sense of community that makes this event truly unique.” – said ESFL Events and Communications Associate Michal Šindlar.
