The following is a message from our friends at the Human Rights Foundation.
SAN FRANCISCO (March 20, 2017) — Human Rights Foundation (HRF) is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization that promotes and protects human rights globally, with a focus on closed societies. HRF unites people in the common cause of defending human rights and promoting liberal democracy.
Today we are announcing an opportunity to join our team in the position of Strategy Associate. This is a unique chance to join a dynamic and high-achieving development and communications team as it works to grow HRF’s support base, engage new communities, and expand HRF’s global profile.
Grounding our work in a deep commitment to individual liberty, HRF aims to raise awareness about both the nature and vulnerability of freedom around the world. Our programs provide education about what constitutes a free society, why freedom matters, and how freedom is nurtured, developed, and sustained. We aim to inform the broadest range of individuals possible—from government officials, experts, intellectuals, and the general public—about how best to promote freedom and tolerance in troubled regions of the globe. HRF’s programs include a broad range of initiatives, such as successful campaigns to free political prisoners; on-the-ground education in closed societies; individual rights seminars from Silicon Valley to Capitol Hill; production of popular films and shareable media; authoritative legal reports; watchdog advocacy; and the organization and production of the Oslo Freedom Forum and other engaging events around the world.
This position reports directly to the Chief Strategy Officer, and will work on the Strategy team with the Development Specialist, Communications Specialist, and Director of Outreach.
HRF is looking for a confident and talented writer who can work under pressure to draft a variety of communications and correspondence. This position will be responsible for: assisting with follow-up from meetings and events; tracking, thanking, and updating donors; identifying prospects and new sponsors; creating marketing materials; engaging HRF in conferences; helping to build relationships with Bay Area individuals and communities; and expanding our social media footprint.
The Strategy Associate will possess the ability to prioritize projects and tasks, meet multiple deadlines, and monitor several projects simultaneously. The position requires superb organizational skills with an interest in improving and streamlining process and systems. The candidate must be highly detail-oriented with a creative and entrepreneurial spirit. Experience with graphic design would be a plus, as this position will contribute to email marketing, the creation of development and mailing materials, and social media posting.
This position is based in San Francisco, and requires some travel, mainly to Oslo and New York.
