In today’s college environment, the new normal is speech codes and political correctness. Even the simplest and most innocent of statements sparks backlash and aggression from fellow students and professors.
It’s even gotten to the level of threats and harassment for those who don’t go along with the program.
That’s what Campus Coordinator and MacIver Institute Intern Jessica Murphy has had to endure for the last week.
Jessica is an outspoken advocate for liberty.
In a blog post for the MacIver Institute, Wisconsin’s free market think tank, she outlined the “Top Five Wasteful Classes in the UW System.” This included classes on “teaching for social justice,” “the history of Hip Hop,” “exploring white privilege,” and “Social Science in the Marxist Tradition.”
An associate professor of philosophy at the school, who teaches the “social justice” course, posted the article on her social media and the vile comments began. Jessica was accused of being brainwashed, racist, and someone threatened to “punch her in the face.”
“The personal attacks are unfounded in my opinion,” she told The College Fix. “I am a 20-year-old college intern, why attack me? Have an honest discussion about the article’s content.”
