SFL leader threatened for speaking out

Jessica is an outspoken advocate for liberty

Jessica Murphy, Campus Coordinator at University of Wisconsin Green Bay, recently published an article highlighting the five most wasteful courses being offered at her school. University of Wisconsin is a public university and so these courses are being supported by taxpayer money:

  • Teaching for Social Justice
  • The History and Politics of Hip Hop
  • Exploring White Privilege
  • Culture of Third Wave Feminism
  • Class, State, and Ideology: An Introduction to Social Science in the Marxist Tradition

Informing the public is a noble endeavor. A professor whose course made the list posted Jessica’s article on Facebook and the comments came in. Many were personal attacks, calling Jessica a racist, discriminating based on her South African background, and one commentor even offered to punch Jessica in the face. Despite the unwarranted threats, Jessica will continue to work towards a freer future. For more information on Jessica and her article, click here.

Students For Liberty will continue standing behind student leaders like Jessica. Click here to help us continue to support these courageous student leaders, no matter what they’re facing.

On the horizon: Top 100 Leaders Retreat

In less than two weeks, we will be heading to Nashville to supply our student leaders with valuable training that will prepare them to most effectively advocate for liberty on their campus. These training sessions will provide a solid foundation for our leaders to build upon.

Until then, we are hard at work as we design presentations, fill out syllabi, and prepare to provide informative, challenging, and effective sessions to ensure our student leaders are as successful as possible this year. Stay tuned for more news on this special retreat!
