ASFL-Nigeria in collaboration with the Student Union Government of the Oyo State College Of Agriculture and Technology organized a Liberty and Entrepreneurship Seminar on the 5th of May. The seminar was to enlighten students of the institution about the importance and benefits of a free society, and how government policies affects entrepreneurial and business activities. The event had over 600 participants and there was also music and stage performances by students of the institution.
The ASFL-Kenya Campus Caravan on Issue Based Political Dialogue hosted a forum at the Main Campus of Egerton University on the 6th of May. This is the 7th and last university that will be visited in this project which is aimed at promoting issue based political dialogue in Kenya. This forum gave participants the opportunity to learn more and brainstorm about good governance, the rule of law, youth participation in leadership among other topics.
In May, ASFL Campus Liberty Train in Nigeria stopped at the University of Benin (UniBen) and Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED). The UniBen Liberty Forum was organized with the Nigerian Economics Students Association (NESA) on the 13th of May, with over 50 participants from 4 universities. The participants were able to network, learn and interact about issues around liberty, governance and the rule of law.
The TASUED Liberty Forum was held at the ETF building of the University on Friday, 19th May. Over 70 students from 3 higher institutions in the state participated in the forum which lasted for about five hours.
The event involved lectures on ‘Promoting Free Speech on Campuses’ by Moronfolu Adeniyi, ‘Leadership for Liberty’ by Adeola Oyerinde and ‘Introduction to Libertarianism’ by Stephen Oyedemi as well as interactive & networking sessions . This is the forth university that will be visited under Campus Liberty Train project.
