Students For Liberty’s International Day of Action

Practising what we preach

On Sunday, July 9th 2017, students from across the United States and Canada gave up their day to give back to their local communities in our inaugural SFL Day of Action.

Groups across North America provided social action in delivering much needed food, water, and other resources to the homeless populations of major cities.

We were spending time with, and helping people who for the most part had been let down by government, let down by inhuman bureaucracy that looks at people as statistics rather than the individuals they are. We at Students For Liberty believe in the dignity and individuality of all of us, and our Day of Action helped to apply that philosophy to our local communities.

We would encourage anyone who has the time to sit down and talk to people who have fallen through the cracks of inhumane big government. Sadly, in too many areas the state has crowded out social action. We need to help spread the word that a cold, centralised, distant state does not care for people in practice as well as it says it should in theory.

All of us have a responsibility to help out our fellow individuals, because forms and numbers are not people and stories.

The Students For Liberty Day of Action proves that a big society can come together and help out those most in need, not just big government. In fact, in many ways assistance from individuals rather than state institutions is more personal, efficient, rewarding, and effective.

We were delighted by how successful our action day was, and with what a warm response we all received. Be on the look out for many more SFL Days of Action to get involved with in the future, as we help to spread peace, love, and liberty across our world.
