NOVEMBER 2017 UPDATE
November was an exciting month in North America for Students For Liberty. We wrapped up our 2017 Regional Conference Season and welcomed John Mackey to our the Board of Directors!
Regional Conferences
In November, Students For Liberty held our final seven Regional Conferences across the United States and Canada. These Regional Conferences are a series of unique events that are are completely planned and executed by our student leaders. Regional Conferences provide a fantastic opportunity for liberty-minded students unlike any other on today’s college campuses.
Distinguished speakers, which included John Stossel, Governor Bill Weld, and Dr. Jordan B. Peterson inspired attendees to take action and develop the tools necessary to make their campuses and world a freer place. Throughout this month alone, we were able to use our Regional Conferences to reach more than 900 attendees with the philosophy of liberty.
Now that the exciting Regional Conference season is over, we’re excited for LibertyCon. Hosted March 2-4, 2018, LibertyCon will be the premier pro-liberty conference of 2018. Join us in Washington D.C. and help usher in a new chapter for the global liberty movement ‒ just when we need it most. Confirmed speakers already include Steve Forbes, John Mackey (CEO and co-founder of Whole Foods), Johnny C. Taylor (President and CEO of Thurgood Marshall College Fund), and Maxime Bernier (Member of Parliament).
Board of Directors
This month Students For Liberty’s CEO, Dr. Wolf von Laer, announced that John Mackey, Whole Foods CEO and Co-Founder, has joined the Students For Liberty Board of Directors. John Mackey, who is well known for both his book, Conscious Capitalism, was also recognized in 2013 as the SFL Alumnus of the year.
“I am confident that by joining SFL’s Board of Directors, John will add tremendous wisdom and experience to our organization. His entrepreneurial spirit will only strengthen our organization’s approach to educating, developing, and empowering the next generation of leaders of liberty”, said Dr. von Laer.
We’re thrilled with our recent addition to the Board of Directors and look forward to how Mr. Mackey will continue to help SFL evolve and reach more hearts and minds for liberty! Please join us in giving a warm SFL welcome to John!
