During the Freedom Liberty Fora 2017 hosted by the Fundacion Atlas para una sociedad Libre (Atlas Foundation) and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, Cristian Nahuel Centurión was awarded the “Prize for Freedom 2017” Cristian is the current Executive Board Member of Eslibertad and Regional Director for Argentina and Uruguay.
The prize is an acknowledgement given on a yearly basis since 2005, in order to recognize the work and defense of the values of liberty to well-known individuals and people who have shown a big commitment and success in advocating liberty.
At only 20 years old, Cristian is the youngest person to ever receive this prize.
Cristian first got involved with SFL through an online course with the Bases Foundation. As Cristian told me, “Looking in retrospect, it is incredible everything that has happened since then, both in my ideological and professional growth. SFL became a great opportunity for personal improvement.”
His work has been instrumental in expanding SFL throughout Argentina. “I managed to expand SFL throughout Argentina and consolidate great local teams, establish alliances with all the most important libertarian and academic think tanks. It was a personal challenge to have organized the Southern Cone Retreat for leaders of 4 countries and to hold several Leadership Forums throughout the country. I still have several plans such as the Regional Conference that I hope will be a milestone in the history of my country and establish SFL as the premier organization for young leaders in Argentina who wish to achieve real social change in their universities.”
After receiving the Prize for Freedom from the Atlas Foundation, Cristian said, “I admit that the prize took me by surprise, and I received it with great enthusiasm. I do the same thing as many other SFL leaders: Publications, events across the country, inspire new leaders to promote our cause, and I do it with passion because we are building a revolution with long-term results but in a short time we have received a lot of success.”
Cristian is now working towards founding a think tank in his home town, The Urquiza Foundation for Freedom. Stay tuned for more news about Cristian and the great work he’s doing in Argentina!
