Triumph of Liberty in the heart of Belgrade!

After Leuven, Berlin and Prague, The 7th annual European Students For Liberty gathering took a place on 13-15th of April in the capital city of Serbia, Belgrade! LibertyCon is the major European gathering of open-minded students who want to discuss ideas, share their experiences and celebrate Liberty! #LibertyCon18 was a long awaited event! Students, Speakers, ESFLers, Partners were excited to reunion and enjoy the greatness of LibertyCon again!

First day of conference then went on with a very emotional opening ceremony! Wolf von Laer, CEO of Students For Liberty, summarized the enormous impact that our movement had in the last 11 months! Our Programs Director, Aleksandar Kokotovic made an important statement, while delivering his speech: Peace is our rebellion, Love is our resistance, Liberty is where we are going! We listened to our very first Keynote speaker Alexander McCobin and enjoyed the first social at ELEKTROPIONIR! Check out the summary of amazing first day of the conference!

The second day started with two keynote sessions. Yaron Brook, Patrick Schumacher, Jamie Bartlett, Brian O’shea were energized us with new information, motivation, knowledge and love for Liberty during the first part of the day. We discussed free minds, free markets, talked about fake news, human freedom index, a capitalist revolution and asked a lot of questions! You can find all live sessions and Q&A-s on our FB Page.

As we reached the afternoon, the sadness of the end of the conference being closer became stronger. But, we still had great talks to listen and enjoy! After nice drinks and food (Which, rumors told me, was nicely served), Deirdre McCoskey finally answered a question: how people and nations get rich? And of course: What makes us rich is being free!

David Friedman explained real-world legal systems and how the light on the stage can be annoying! (You should see this).Interested why do we need more people to go to jail? – You can find an answer in Marc Emery’s talk. Do you know what 3 essential crypto-technologies are? I also got a lot of necessary information from the speech of Jan Hubik.

The day was almost over, one would grab a beer and chill. A beer that tastes like a freedom! Who would do a better job in that than the very last keynote speaker Matt Kibbe?! He talked about the right to try. We were all emotional, but it was just the beginning! The closing ceremony was about to start, we were all gathering around in the main hall, everybody, who worked, who attended, who was tired or sleepy. I love conferences, because of every participant, attendees, speakers, sponsors and of course, organizers, the people, who worked very hard to make it happen!

#LibertyCon18 closing ceremony was the part of the conference that brought chills of happiness to everybody! It is all about how ESFL works, how every single person loves their job there. We had very emotional talks by the ESFL staff and we had a wonderful video that summarizes what ESFL is about and what’s going on there! Are you excited to see it? Here’s a link!

After all those memorable moments we had a crazy party at the very nice place called Fabrika.

And LibertyCon was not finished yet! Since we all like nice green parks to lie down, enjoy good music, nice drinks and food, the event organizers decided that freer people need to do what they love to. Here’s the lovely result of it. For more, here’s a video from the LibertyPicnic.

Well, this year #LibertyCon18 told us to #BeFree and #ExpressOurselves, it poisoned us with more Peace, Love and Liberty! This is how we are going to keep working and fighting for Freedom!

Thanks to everybody for this amazing experience!

See you next year, Katie and our walking solo hand! <3
