Support Gun Rights with the #NotJustAGun Hashtag

As Students For Liberty’s ongoing Not Just a Gun campaign ramps up, we’ve been blown away by the positive response we’ve gotten from from all of you in the network. As we suspected, the world was due for a new conversation on gun control.

Part of the problem is that we’ve forgotten why we fight for the right to bear arms. We’ve forgotten that this crucial right — the backstop of liberty — is not only about gun nuts and Doomsday preppers. It’s about every single human being’s right to protect themselves, their property, and the people they love. This is the compassionate case for gun rights.

Throughout the fall semester, we’ve been making the case for the right to bear arms on the SFL blog and on campus. We’ve shared a number of activism ideas and compiled a list of resources from SFL’s partner organizations — with more to come soon!

Now, we want to bring the conversation online.

In order to make the month of November all about the right to bear arms, we’re asking everyone in the SFL network to share why you care about this issue. Just tweet or post a picture of yourself with the hashtag #NotJustAGun and a brief statement about what gun rights mean to you. Here’s mine:

We’ll be collecting posts on a dedicated tagboard throughout this month and featuring the best responses on the SFL blog. Join the conversation today! And if you haven’t yet, click below to request a $100 Not Just a Gun activism grant and make the compassionate case for gun rights on your campus this fall.
