Last month, SFL launched our Student Disorientation campaign to support libertarian student grants at the beginning of this new school year with $100 outreach grants. While we’ve encouraged student leaders to use the funds for tabling equipment, there are tons of activism ideas clubs could use the money for to draw new member. Here’s one: hosting a screening of Deep Web, a timely film concerning the recent conviction of Ross William Ulbricht, the 31-year-old entrepreneur accused of being “Dread Pirate Roberts,” creator and operator of the infamous online black market Silk Road.
In addition to exclusive access with the Ulbricht family, the film features an array of interviews from the architects of the Deep Web as well as major figures in the debate on net neutrality and libertarian economics including: Christopher Soghoian (ACLU), Cindy Cohn (Electronic Frontier Foundation). Cody Wilson (Defense Distributed) and Andy Greenberg (WIRED). The film covers an array of pertinent subjects including Cryptocurrency, Ethics, Free Culture, Anarchy, Globalization, Interweb Law and Ethics, Libertarian Philosophy, Net Neutrality, and the United State’s War on Drugs.
In collaboration with Bond/360 all SFL-affiliated groups will be eligible for a discounted screening rate. Please reach out to [email protected] for further information!
