SFL In The Media – January 2017 Highlights
Students For Liberty and our network of activists are regularly featured in national and international media outlets on a wide variety of topics. Below are some examples of SFL’s media presence during January 2017.
- SFL Media Relations Associate Daniel Pryor was published in Spiked Online discussing the need for right-wing individuals to consistently defend free speech. He also appeared on Al-Jazeera’s “The Stream” advocating for internet freedom and sex worker rights in the context of government attacks on Backpage.com.
- Estudantes pela Liberdade (Students for Liberty’s Brazilian affiliate) was described as “the largest student association in the country by far” in an article at the Foundation for Economic Education, The article also appeared on the PanAm post.
- Following an SFL press release, Rare.us covered the story of Amir Nasr — a Sudanese political refugee banned from the US as a result of President Trump’s executive order on immigrants from Muslim-majority countries and refugees. He was scheduled to speak on free speech at #ISFLC17.
- Shreyas Bharadwaj, a Campus Coordinator at South Asian Students For Liberty, was published on Indian news outlet Swarajya discussing the shortcomings of the interventionist “Right To Education Act” in Maharashtra state.
- Martin van Staden, Academic Programs Director at African Students For Liberty, published an op-ed on BusinessDay arguing for the importance of actively opposing economic regulation and arbitrary bureaucrats.
