[Arlington, Virginia]: All of us at Students For Liberty are deeply saddened by the death of one of our student leaders, Jake Rebhan, who passed away on September 16th in Washington, D.C.
Jake joined Students For Liberty in October 2018 and became President of Maastricht Students For Liberty shortly thereafter. Jake was a passionate leader who wasn’t afraid to take on a challenge. He built a movement when there were initially no other members involved, with his dedication and excellent leadership resulting in a number of high profile events run through the 2018 – 2019 academic year in Maastricht.
Jake studied political science at the University College Maastricht. He had just started his internship at the Heritage Foundation when we passed away. He was 22 years old.
His friends and colleagues at Maastricht Students For Liberty expressed their condolences, stating that: “In the next few weeks we will be looking for an MSFL way of honoring Jake’s legacy, and keeping his memory alive. Jake was a kind, honorable and generous man, and without his stepping in as President last November, MSFL may have fallen apart. He will be truly missed by all of us at MSFL.”
A commemoration event will take place on Saturday, September 28th at the University College Maastricht at 3 pm CEST to share stories and celebrate the life of Jake Rebhan.
Students For Liberty staff expresses their deepest condolences to Jake’s family and friends. He was a true leader of liberty and his contribution to our movement will be well-remembered.
