Our New Logo
One season is ending and another is beginning. In the midst of this changing of the seasons, we’ve made a change too. Today marks the official launch of the new Students For Liberty logo.
Our new logo retains some elements of its predecessor: the torch, the circle, and we have yet to move away from the gold standard. These elements have helped in making our logo identifiable to thousands of people all across the world. For their strong symbolism and for the role they played in making SFL’s brand recognizable, these elements have earned their place in our logo. In the new logo, we combine the familiar with the new.
Here’s a rundown of the new logo:
The Globe
What was previously a circle has now been reborn as a globe, reflecting our international 
reach and mission. Liberty has no borders and this globe represents the importance of freedom throughout the world.
The Books
What better symbol is there for knowledge and learning than books? Not to mention the powerful connotations of education. Books have been indispensable in forming the thought of many of the people in our network. The books are in our logo for the universally recognizable symbolism they carry and for the great importance they have as part of the tradition of liberty — past, present, and future.
The Torch
Another old symbol, and one that we are fond of. A flame which is used to shed light on the darkness, a light which combats oppression, despotism, and injustice. Placed over the globe, we know that the torch of liberty will light up the world.
The logo is being unveiled just in time for the 10th Annual International Students For Liberty Conference. This weekend will be your first chance to pick up some SFL goodies with the new logo, not to mention seeing it prominently featured throughout the conference venue.
We set out to create a new and modern logo while giving a nod to the old logo. Throughout this process, many logo drafts were left on the cutting room floor, but they each played a valuable role in the design of what is now the current logo. This new logo represents SFL’s ability to flourish in a tumultuous world and our willingness to explore the frontiers of the liberty movement. Our world is changing. And we’re ensuring that liberty is here to stay.
