Students For Liberty is currently seeking a passionate and professional individual to serve as our Global Social Media Marketing Specialist. You will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and optimization of a yearly social media strategy for the Students For Liberty brand. You will work across our main channels: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and Twitter. Your responsibilities as the Global Social Media Marketing Specialist are subject to grow and/or change according to our marketing needs. You are encouraged to make ongoing recommendations as you will be SFL’s main point of contact for our social media channels.
Responsibilities
- Social Media Planning, Scheduling & Posting – send posts for approval on AgoraPulse every week, actively monitor Google Alerts, speak with our Global Marketing Team as well as programs, events, and Learn Liberty/SFL Academy teams to curate sharable content for our main channels
- Social Media Reporting – complete the Organic Traffic Report at the end of every calendar month for SFL’s main pages. You will also prepare a quarterly report for our affiliate pages. You will export social media reports from AgoraPulse every week and carry out optimizations for each channel according to your findings.
- Social Media Listening – create a plan to regularly engage with our audience. You will start conversations with our fans, follow them across various channels, and engage with their posts. This also includes answering questions on Quora and Reddit and driving conversations on forums around our SEO keywords.
- Social Media Brand Guidelines – work with the Global Content Marketing Specialist, the Global Marketing Manager and the Senior Director of Communications to establish a set of of guidelines for publishing and sharing content.
- Evergreen Content Library – curate content from success stories, evergreen campaigns, friendship stories, viral content, and more to create a library of evergreen content that will be auto-published bi-quarterly. This will mean you will be briefing our design and video teams regularly for infographics, GIFs, videos, or in some cases, have existing content reformatted for social use (i.e. stories). You will analyze Salesforce reports to come up with SFL statistics about our students and donors which we will share with our social audiences in order to drive awareness and engagement.
- New Social Networks – conduct a SWOT analysis to determine if we could benefit from opening up other channels such as Snapchat, Reddit, and WhatsApp groups
- Innovation – stay up-to-date on best engagement practices and integrate your learnings into our yearly strategy, including the use of 360 images, live videos, hosting watch parties, and more to keep the SFL brand top of mind for our followers
- Campaigns – work with the marketing and wider communications team to create a social media strategy for all campaigns. You will also support with paid campaigns on occasion.
- YouTube – become familiar with YouTube analytics and support marketing with Learn Liberty, SFL Academy and Success Story video promotions.
- Brand Management – update our social media front-facing page assets on a regular basis or as requested (including bios, and cover photo/videos).
Qualifications
The following qualifications are required:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in English
- Extensive understanding of key social media channels and tools including, but not limited to: Facebook Insights, Facebook Business Manager, IGTV, Instagram Insights, Twitter Analytics, LinkedIn Analytics, AgoraPulse, Google Analytics and YouTube Analytics.
- Familiar with photo editing techniques (AdobeSuite is a plus)
- Editorial/news judgment skills
- Content curation and creation skills
- Ability to connect with influencers who can arrange story takeovers and other partnerships
- Integrity, humility, and an entrepreneurial attitude
- Positive, goal-oriented outlook
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Willingness to learn and provide assistance as necessary
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a team
- Ability to self-motivate, work autonomously, and show entrepreneurial drive in a remote work environment

- Willingness to travel
The following qualifications are preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Previous experience in social media management
- Previous involvement with Students For Liberty
- Previous experience working in digital marketing
